[26:51]  1 sn This number shows only a slightly smaller total in the second census; the first was 603,550.

[2:32]  2 tn Heb “the house of their fathers.” So also in v. 34.

[11:21]  3 tn Heb “the people who I am in their midst,” i.e., among whom I am.

[11:21]  4 tn The Hebrew sentence stresses the number. The sentence begins “600,000….”

[11:21]  5 tn The word order places the object first here: “Meat I will give them.” This adds to the contrast between the number and the statement of the Lord.

[11:21]  6 tn The verb is the perfect tense with a vav (ו) consecutive, carrying the sequence from the preceding imperfect tense. However, this verb may be subordinated to the preceding to express a purpose clause.

[31:32]  7 tn Heb “people.”

[31:32]  8 tn Heb “had plundered.”

[7:3]  9 tn Heb “and they brought.”

[7:3]  10 sn For a discussion and drawings, see W. S. McCullough, IDB 1:540. But see also D. J. Wiseman, IBD 1:254.

[35:6]  11 tn The “manslayer” is the verb “to kill” in a participial form, providing the subject of the clause. The verb means “to kill”; it can mean accidental killing, premeditated killing, or capital punishment. The clause uses the infinitive to express purpose or result: “to flee there the manslayer,” means “so that the manslayer may flee there.”
